Rock Quarry Road between Auburn Knightdale and Old Baucom
roads will temporarily close starting Monday.
This comes as part of the North Carolina Turnpike Authority’s continued construction on the eastern portion of the Complete 540 project, Phase 2. Officials
say the project will extend the Triangle Expressway from the I-40/I-42/Toll
N.C. 540 interchange near Garner and Clayton to the existing I-540/I-87/U.S.
64/U.S. 264 interchange in Knightdale.
The closure will start Monday, Oct 27, and last through
Friday, Oct. 31, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night.
Officials said the same portion of Rock Quarry Road will see
temporary intermittent lane closures to complete scheduled construction
activities.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area. For drivers trying
to access Rock Quarry north of the closure, officials advise:
- Continue driving on Rock Quarry Road
- Turn right onto Old Baucom Road
- Turn left onto Brown Field Road
- Turn left onto Battle Bridge Road
- Turn left onto Auburn Knightdale Road
- Turn right onto Rock Quarry Road
For those trying to access Rock Quarry Road south of the closure,
officials advise:
- Continue driving on Rock Quarry Road
- Turn left onto Auburn Knightdale
- Turn right onto Battle Bridge Road
- Turn right onto Brown Field Road
- Turn right onto Old Baucom Road
- Turn left onto Rock Quarry Road
