Rick Moore, Kings Mountain councilman and father of NC House speaker, dies

The state House — led by his son, Republican state Rep. Tim Moore — canceled its business for the rest of the week.
RALEIGH, N.C. — Rick Moore, a former Kings Mountain councilman and the father of the speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives, has died. He was 75.
Moore died Monday at his Kings Mountain home, according to an obituary. On Tuesday, as news of the death became public, the state House — led by his son, Republican state Rep. Tim Moore — canceled its business for the rest of the week. The Senate is still expected to hold committee hearings and votes as regularly planned.
Richard “Rick” Keith was born in Cherokee County, S.C., to the late Cleveland and Kathleen Bailey Moore.
