Rescue crews search for man who fell into American River in Rancho Cordova

Crews are making a recovery effort for a man who fell into the American River without a life jacket in Rancho Cordova on Saturday. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said the man was rafting down the river near Clay Banks with a larger party when he fell in the water. He did not come back up from the water. Sac Metro Fire described the man as a 30-year-old wearing a black shirt and maroon and white pants. He went missing around 11:29 a.m. Three boats, a helicopter and several ground crews have been sent to help with the search. According to the Metro Fire Department, the Sac Regional Parks and Sac Sheriffs departments all coordinated to recover the body of the missing man. The Sac County Coroners Office has taken possession of the body.The incident is closed.
