The Schiele, at 1500 E Garrison Boulevard, Gastonia, North Carolina, is hosting Reptile & Amphibian Day on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This event includes the grand opening of The Schiele’s newest exhibit, Friends Not Foes — Snakes of the Carolinas.

Celebrate herpetology with activities, games and special presentations. Tickets include admission to the museum and The Farm, encounters with live animals and all event activities.

  • Turtle races
  • Snake feeding
  • Mine for gemstones on the Nature Trail and keep what you find
  • Hands-on activities to learn about camouflage, reptile genetics and poison/venum
  • Learn about frogs at the Nature Trail pond
  • Interact with live animals
  • Visit with experts from Carolina Wildlife Sanctuary, Lake Norman Herpetological Society and McDowell Nature Center.

  • $8: Museum members (advance tickets)
  • $13 General public (advance tickets)
  • $15 at the door
