(FOX40.COM) — Officials from the Arden Fair Mall said they’re strategizing a “re-envisioning” of the mall, as they welcome new stores later this year.

Nathan Spradlin, the mall’s marketing director, told FOX40.com mall staff began the process of moving existing tenants to in January for the first phase of the “re-envisioning” plan.

Uniqlo and H&M are expected stores at Arden Fair in the fall, which Spardlin said are the “next big steps” for the mall. It will be the first Sacramento locations for both Uniqlo and H&M.

“These two brands are aligned with the Sacramento market, and this is just the beginning of a larger redevelopment plan to meet the evolving needs of our city,” Spardlin said.

The Uniqlo location will be an 11,500 square-foot store on the first floor that will be placed next to Lululemon. Uniqlo’s space take up portions of the former J. Crew, Gap and Armani Exchange spaces.

Uniqlo, a Japanese fast fashion brand known for its casual clothing, is expected to open in September. It will be Uniqlo’s 20th store in California.

H&M will occupy an 18,000-square feet space to Macy’s on the lower level, replacing Lane Bryant, New York & Co. and LOFT. The fashion retailer plans to open the Sacramento location sometime in late 2024.

It will be the third H&M store in the Sacramento region with other locations at the Palladio in Folsom and at the Westfield Galleria in Roseville.

“Uniqlo and H&M are the next big steps, but Arden Fair has always been in a state of growth since opening in 1957,” Spardlin said. “We began as a single-story open-air center and have grown with the Sacramento community for over 60 years.”

“We recognize our role beyond commerce as a needed community gather point and will continue to strive to find new ways and new programs that meet the needs of Sacramento,” Spardlin continued.
