An attack at a Chick-fil-A left a delivery driver dead and maintenance worker injured, Illinois officials said.
At about 5 a.m. Oct. 22, officers responded to a Chick-fil-A after getting reports of a stabbing, according to a news release by the Village of Oswego.
When officers arrived, they found the accused attacker, whose name was not publicly released, being held down by the one of the people who were attacked and took him into custody, officials said.
During a search of the fast-food chain, officers found a delivery driver unresponsive before he was pronounced dead at the scene following unsuccessful medical aid, officials said.
The victim’s identity will be determined by the Kendall County Coroner’s Office, officials said.
An investigation revealed the suspect broke through the restaurant’s back door and fatally attacked the delivery driver, officials said.
The suspect later attacked a contracted maintenance worker outside the restaurant, officials said.
A bystander saw the attack and called 911 before helping the worker detain the man until police arrived, officials said.
The worker was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and was listed in stable condition as of Oct. 22.
Oswego is about a 50-mile drive southwest from Chicago.
