Impact

The first initial band of rain looks fairly strong with gusty winds and heavy rain. It is early in leaf season which means the chances drains get clogged are higher and there will be ponding in neighborhoods as well as freeways.  In this scenario, there are spinouts and crashes.

We are mostly expecting rain out of this system with snow levels high at 9,000 feet in the beginning then dropping to 7,000 feet by late Wednesday night.  Passes could get snow, but it will be at the end of a system that is leaving.

We are looking at 0.25-0.75″ of valley rain and well over an inch for higher elevations for Wednesday.

The Sierra could see widespread power outages and difficult travel.

The Valley could see tree limbs down and some local power outages .

Rain will be periodically be heavy in the mountains as well so slick roads for everyone Wednesday morning. The afternoon will still have scattered showers so plan for on and off rain for the rest of the day. It will be colder as well with wind and temperatures in the 60s.
