What’s So Great About the Pyrex Simply Store Glass Food Storage Container Set? 

The containers come in three sizes — a 3-cup, 6-cup, and 11-cup — and all have a durable glass structure and secure silicone lids that are great for prepping, cooking, freezing, and so much more. 

I often prepare ingredients for future meals or when taking something along to a friend’s house that needs to be assembled on site. All three are a great size for prep and because they’re glass, it’s easy to keep track of what’s in each container. 

Recently, I took the 11-cup version on a camping trip and stored prepped kebabs in it — marinade and all. When I arrived, we started up the fire pit and my contribution to the meal was ready to hit the grill immediately. The marinade didn’t spill during my hours-long drive and, in an insulated bag, was perfectly cool in the thick glass container.

For cooking, the Pyrex Simply Store containers also work really well for oven-based recipes. Depending on how many people I’m feeding, I can use any one of the three sizes for something like a lasagna or a crumble. When I’m going to an event and need to bring a side or potluck contribution, I can bring these, as they have sturdy tops that can stack during transport, and the glass is nice-enough-looking to put directly onto a table. 

When I make freezer meals, from casseroles to stand-alone sauces, these are the right size and shape for serving, storing, and thawing. Because they’re wider than they are tall, food can defrost or cook more evenly — the center won’t stay frozen when the outside parts boil. For a meal train dish, I most often use the 11-cup container and label a piece of masking tape on the lid, so the receiver doesn’t accidentally keep my container. The 11-cup is also a good size for storing about a dozen muffins in the freezer, too. I also use them to chill or freeze cookie dough before baking, as well as for storing freshly baked cookies after they’ve cooled down.

I most often use the three- or six-cup containers for leftovers, as they’re not so small that they won’t fit a single serving, and not so big either that I’m wasting precious fridge space. Usually I’ll grill chicken on Sunday, cut it up, put it in a container, and then pull out what I need throughout the week to add to salads or stir-fries. The three-cup container is also a nice size for take-along lunches for myself.  

The silicone lids seal well enough to be used for room-temperature storage, like when you want to keep a batch of cookies fresh in the cabinet for later. I’ve had my set of containers for years, so the lids were red back then (now they’re a deep blue). 

The BPA-free glass and lid are both microwave- and dishwasher-safe, which makes life easier. The thick glass is durable and doesn’t absorb odors or flavors. It doesn’t get stained either, which is great for freezer meals with tomato sauce that can stain containers for all of time. 

You’d be hard pressed to find another set of food storage containers that can do it all. Given all this versatility and durability, I gladly shout about my love for these containers from the virtual rooftops — especially when they’re on serious sale.
