CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — A man was arrested in Punta Gorda after reportedly trying to steal items off someone’s boat and later defecating on the dock on Sunday.

On Sunday, Sept. 17, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) was dispatched to Laishley Park Marina at 120 Laishley Court in reference to a boat burglary.

CCSO officers were told that some items were stolen off the vessel, and it was caught on the victim’s security cameras.

They were also told that the suspect was an older man who had pooped on the boat.

Once officers arrived at the scene, the victim pointed out 75-year-old Michael Paul Wierzbicki Sr. sitting on one of the Marina benches.

The surveillance cameras showed Wierzbicki getting on the boat around 5:22 a.m. while the victim was asleep.

He was seen rummaging through the victim’s belongings at the back of the boat.

Although Wierzbicki did not take anything this time, he did leave something behind.

The recording shows Wierzbicki defecating on the dock in front of the vessel, according to CCSO.

Wierzbicki was arrested and then transported to the Charlotte County Jail.

While at the jail, CCSO got another call about a previous theft of an unoccupied car.

Officers went to the intersection of Taylor Road and Harborside Avenue, where they met another victim.

She told them her car was parked on Taylor Road, and it was burglarized overnight.

The victim described the items that were missing, and officers were able to provide photos of the items.

The miscellaneous items in the photos were found in Wierzbivki’s possession when he was arrested.

Wierzbicki was booked in the Charlotte County Jail. He is facing two counts of burglary of an occupied conveyance unarmed and one count of first-degree theft.
