Pumpkin Spice Latte season is almost here: When does the Starbucks fall menu arrive?

Since the drink’s 2003 launch, the Pumpkin Spice Latte has quickly grown to be Starbucks’ most popular seasonal beverage, with hundreds of millions sold.

WASHINGTON — The wait for “pumpkin spice season” is almost over.

Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Lattes return Tuesday, Aug. 26, along with a slew of new fall menu items. The return of the signature latte comes nearly a week after Dunkin’ debut its autumn-inspired menu on Aug. 20.

Over the years, Pumpkin Spice Latte’s return date has inched closer to the end of August rather than mid-September. A decade ago, the fan-favorite latte didn’t go on sale until Sept. 8.

The 2025 fall menu debut this year is the latest return of “PSL” since 2022. Last year, it came back on Aug. 22.

The Seattle-based company confirmed its fall lineup will also include returning favorites such as the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai, and Pecan Crunch Oatmilk Latte.

There will also be some new additions: The Pecan Cortado and Italian Sausage Egg Bites.

Dunkin’ Fall Menu:

The Massachusetts-based breakfast company debut five new fall menu items last week, beating Starbucks on ushering in the fall beverage season.

The Cereal N’ Milk Latte, Sabrina’s Daydream Refresher Line, Iced Pumpkin Loaf, Kreme Delight Donut, Chipotle Loaded Hash Browns and Maple Sugar Bacon Breakfast Sandwich are now all available.

Obviously, the Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte returned. But Dunkin’ also brought back the Pumpkin Donut & Pumpkin MUNCHKINS, as well as Chipotle Hash Brown Wake-Up Wraps, Ham & Swiss Croissant Stuffers and Braided Apple Pie.

What is the Pumpkin Spice Latte?

Since the drink’s 2003 launch, the Pumpkin Spice Latte has quickly grown to be Starbucks’ most popular seasonal beverage, with hundreds of millions sold. It was just the third seasonal beverage introduced by Starbucks, after the Eggnog Latte and the Peppermint Mocha.

Despite the name, pumpkin spice isn’t actually made with pumpkins. It’s a blend of baking spices that are generally considered “warm” in the cooking world. The spices typically include cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves and allspice.

The mix gets its name because it’s commonly used to add some extra flavor to pumpkin pies.

When does Starbucks have Fall drinks?

This will be the seventh consecutive year that Starbucks’ fall drinks, including the Pumpkin Spice Latte, dropped in the second to last or last week of August:

2023: Thursday, Aug. 24
