Public forum set to look at 3A zoning

[ad_1]

Gloucester planners and consultants have scheduled a public forum this week on proposed by-right multifamily zoning under the MBTA Communities Act.

Billed as “Public Forum #3,” the meeting will be a presentation of the proposed multifamily zoning meant to bring the city into compliance with the MBTA Communities law, also known as state Chapter 40A Section 3A. As a commuter rail community, Gloucester has until Dec. 31 to come into compliance with the state law.

The meeting is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at the Rose Baker Senior Center, 6 Manuel F. Lewis St.

At the forum, city planning staff and consultants from RKG Associates and Innes Associates are scheduled to present an overview of Gloucester’s requirements under the law to provide for multifamily housing, according to the meeting’s flyer.

Also presented will be how the proposals have evolved based on feedback from residents, and details of the proposed zoning districts and zoning ordinance changes that have been submitted by the Planning Board to the City Council for public hearings.

You can learn more information on the city’s website, including the text of the draft zoning and the zoning map at https://tinyurl.com/fx4usy4t.
