Prince George’s County cop indicted in deadly drunk driving crash

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — A Prince George’s County police officer is indicted on six charges stemming from a deadly drunk driving crash in Brandywine in July 2025.

The  Maryland State’s Attorney’s office says Anthony Coleman was off-duty and driving his personal vehicle when his truck collided with a car driven by Carlton Herndon on Route 31, killing Herndon.

Coleman has been charged with negligent manslaughter involving a vehicle, criminally negligent manslaughter by vehicle, negligent homicide by auto while under the influence, homicide by motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, driving or attempting to drive a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and handgun transport under the influence of alcohol.

Coleman was suspended right after the collision. Upon being indicted, he was suspended without pay. An internal affairs probe into the matter is underway.
