The Department of Public Works is accelerating trash collection after a winter storm disrupted services.

WASHINGTON — Nearly two weeks after the winter storm, cleanup continues.

The Department of Public Works announced updates Friday on its trash collection post-storm.

It’s advising people to leave trash and recycle bins out if your items are not collected, because missed collections will be prioritized the following day. If materials have not been collected within two days, DPW says residents should report the issue to 311.

For specifics on trash collection based on the type of service:

– DPW says its completed most Monday through Thursday frontside collections and began Friday frontside collection on the normal schedule.

– Over the weekend, crews will address any missed trash routes and will return to normal operations on Monday, February 6th.

– Bobcats have cleared a path through all Monday and Tuesday collection alleys.

– Crews are currently working through Wednesday and Thursday alleys.

– Over the weekend, they will address Friday alleys and focus on trouble spots that may require extra attention.

– Wednesday alley collections were ongoing Friday.

– Crews will work through the weekend to reach Thursday and Friday collection alleys, and return to alleys that were missed earlier in the week due to icy conditions.
