Responding officers cordoned off the area and began evacuating the immediate area. The Greensboro Police Department’s Hazardous Devices Team was asked to respond.

The team secured the device and took it with them.

They plan to X-ray it to determine if it is functional or a replica.

Last year, Asheboro police responded to the same home for the same type of call.

A hand grenade was found when family members were cleaning out the home after the death of a loved one.

That grenade was found to contain no explosive.
