Portland's rainy season could start sooner rather than later

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Oregon’s switch from warm and dry to cool and wet weather could start ramping up over the next few weeks.

The Climate Prediction Center is forecasting the Pacific Northwest to fall closer to the average high temperature of the low- to mid-70s over the next week or two. This seasonal cooling trend comes with an increase chance in wet weather.

On average, September is the third driest month of the year in Portland with an average rainfall amount of 1.52 inches. Portland is on track to see its average monthly precipitation, but could see an increase in rainfall totals through the end of the month.

This near average temperature trend and slightly wetter weather pattern can still come with single day weather abnormalities.

Stay with the KOIN 6 Weather Team as they continue to track the seasonal change from summer to fall over the next week.
