PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Head coach Chauncy Billups has been placed on leave from the Portland Trail Blazers amid a federal investigation involving sports gambling and rigged poker.

Billups was among several other NBA coaches and athletes arrested as part of two federal investigations with “global reach,” officials announced.

“We are in the process of reviewing the federal indictment announced today,” the NBA said in a public statement. “We take these allegations with the utmost seriousness, and the integrity of our game remains our top priority.”

Portland Trail Blazers assistant Tiago Splitter will step in as he interim head coach, as reported by ESPN.
