DENVER (KDVR) — The largest grocery store in Nederland reopened on Sunday, just a few days after a fire destroyed more than a dozen businesses in a downtown shopping center.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said B & F Mountain Market reopened on Sunday in Caribou Village after it was temporarily closed due to the fire. The grocery store, also known as B&F Market or Ned Market, is one of the few in the mountain town.
This comes after a fire broke out on Thursday morning, evacuating nearby residents and destroying more than a dozen businesses, including a yoga studio, winery, brewery, doctor’s office and a small police sub-station.
The grocery store is in the same parking lot as the shopping center and was taped off after the fire. FOX31’s Jim Hooley reported that the market was not damaged by the flames, but it did suffer some damage. It initially wasn’t accessible to the public as it was part of the investigation, however, it was able to reopen on Sunday after fire officials deemed it safe to reopen.
Hooley reported that while the store was closed, many residents had to travel to Boulder to shop for their essentials.
The sheriff’s office also said in the announcement that they will share updates later this week when they have more information, but investigators are still doing work. At this time, it’s unclear what caused the fire.
