Police find man dead while investigating separate shooting in Montgomery County

Police are still investigating exactly what led to the shooting, and find the person responsible.

SILVER SPRING, Md. — Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances of a deadly shooting in Silver Spring Wednesday night. Montgomery County Police found the dead man while responding to a separate shooting nearby. 

Officers were first dispatched to the 3400 block of Robey Terrace near Edgewood Neighborhood Park for a report of a shooting just before 8 p.m. When officers got on scene, they found a man shot. An investigation found that the wounded man was shot in the area of Aston Manor Drive and ran to Robey Terrace, where 911 was called. The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

About an hour after the initial shooting call, while canvassing the area, K-9 officers discovered the body of a man in the 13800 block of Aston Manor Drive in the Fairland neighborhood. The man was pronounced dead on the scene. 

Detectives tell WUSA9 it is too early to tell whether the two shootings are related. So far, no arrests have been made in either the shooting or the death investigation. Police have not yet identified the dead man pending a next-of-kin notification.
