Poker pro Daniel Kwon has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting at least one woman in Toronto, according to a news release from the Toronto Police Service.
If that name doesn’t sound familiar, and it may not to tournament players, you may remember the alleged violent criminal as “Action Dan,” who got walloped in the 2024 Hustler Casino Live Million Dollar Game. The Canadian is now facing serious charges that could land him behind bars for quite some time.
Accusations Against Poker Player
Police claim that Kwon hosted an event on Jan. 15 where he allegedly met and sexually assaulted a female victim. He was arrested following a search of his Toronto home.
Kwon, 39, has been charged with forcible confinement, sexual assault, sexual assault with choking, possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 and three counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Police have encouraged other potential victims to come forward as they believe there are additional victims. He was scheduled to appear in court on Monday at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre.
Kwon, who has just $23,000 worth of tournament cashes on The Hendon Mob, is most known in the poker world for his two $1 million buy-in appearances on Hustler Casino Live in May 2024. Neither of those outings, which occurred in back-to-back days, went particularly well for the Canadian poker player.
“Action Dan,” an internet entrepreneur, lost $404,000 in the first session and $1,004,000 in the second session for a combined $1,408,000 deficit.
Kwon had one highlight during the Million Dollar Game that went his way when he caught Peter Wang bluffing for a $467,000 pot. He has appeared in nearly 30 livestream sessions, including one on Poker at The Lodge at The Lodge Card Club in Texas where he won nearly $470,000, much of that coming in a $493,500 pot.
Police haven’t released further details about the alleged sexual assault.
