PennDOT removes speed restrictions on Philadelphia area roads

[ad_1]

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — PennDOT removes temporary reduced speed limits on Philadelphia area roads after snow fell in the region.

Earlier Sunday morning, drivers saw speed limits reduced to 45 mph on several major highways, including Interstates 76, 95, 295, 476 and 676, U.S. Routes 1, 30, 202 and 422, and State Routes 63, 100 Spur and 309.

PennDOT lifted the restrictions just after 12 p.m.

PennDOT crews are treating roadways, but officials warn roads will not be completely free of ice and snow.

Treatments will continue until the storm comes to an end.

Motorists can check real-time road conditions at 511PA.com, by calling 511, or using the 511PA mobile app. The service includes live traffic speeds, weather information and access to traffic cameras.

Drivers are reminded to give snow plows extra space, never pass a plow while it is working, and carry a winter emergency kit including food, water, warm clothing and blankets.
