Pedestrian killed after walking into road in Fayetteville

A stretch of Country Club Drive was closed for a couple of hours, Fayetteville Police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) — A pedestrian was killed Saturday night in Fayetteville.

Police said officers responded shortly before 8:15 p.m. to the 600 block of Country Club Drive. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

FPD said the preliminary investigation indicated that the pedestrian stepped out into oncoming traffic and was hit by a passing vehicle. The driver stopped and remained there until police arrived.

The name of the victim has not been released.

Country Club Drive was closed between Clearwater Drive and Rose Hill Road in both directions. The roadway reopened shortly after 10 p.m.
