➡️ Original article: Google agreed to a $23 million settlement to resolve claims it shared search queries with third-party websites and companies without user consent. The settlement benefits Google Search users who clicked on a search result in the United States between Oct. 26, 2006, and Sept. 30, 2013.

The Court did not decide in favor of Plaintiffs or Defendant. Defendant further denies all claims and that it violated any law. Plaintiffs and Defendant agreed to the Settlement to avoid the costs and risks of a trial, and so that the Settlement Class Members can receive payments from the Settlement.

Who Is Eligible?

To know if you will be affected by this Settlement, you first have to determine if you are a Class Member. The Court decided that the Class includes all users of Google Search who clicked on a search result in the United States from October 26, 2006 through September 30, 2013. The Class also includes anyone who could bring any of the claims in the Lawsuit on behalf of these users of Google Search, such as representatives, heirs, administrators, and assigns. How Much Will You Get?

If the Settlement is approved by the Court, Defendant will establish a Settlement Fund of $23,000,000 to pay all Valid Claims submitted by the Settlement Class Members, as well as Notice and Administration Costs, attorneys’ fees and expenses, and Incentive Awards for the Settlement Class Representatives

The amount of each class member’s payment will depend on several factors, including how many claims are submitted and how much the settlement costs to administer.  Each claimant is estimated to receive approximately $7.70 if they file an Approved Claim.

You must submit your Claim Form online no later than Monday, July 31, 2023, or mail your completed paper Claim Form so that it is postmarked no later than Monday, July 31, 2023.
