Bashar Murad impressed with his Icelandic language Söngvakeppnin 2024 entry Vestrið villt this weekend, comfortably making it to the contest’s upcoming final. Now the Palestinian singer-songwriter shines with his English-language version, Wild West. The star will take place in the final of Söngvakeppnin this weekend in the hope of representing Iceland at Eurovision in Malmo.

The chorus sees Bashar croon: “‘Cause I’m going to the wild, wild west / Where the only rest is for the wicked / Where even if you do your best and you pass the test / Doesn’t mean you’ll make it…” atop atmospheric production from Einar Stef. The number is our clear pick for success in the contest, Bashar is a charismatic performer who delivers the track with a sense of compelling urgency and conviction.

Bashar will take on fellow finalists including Hera Björk and Anita this weekend. Listen to the track above, watch Bashar’s performance of the Icelandic Vestrið villt below.
