LearningRx Brain Training Company Reviews 5 Tips to Prepare Your High Schooler for College

June 6 is National Higher Education Day and LearningRx, the world’s largest personal brain training company, is sharing tips with parents to help them prepare their high school student for college. They include:

    1.      Take challenging courses. Most admissions officials say they prefer to see a student attempting more difficult classes then breezing through the required courses. As a general rule, if your teen thinks she can get at least a B, have her take the AP or honors classes.

    2.      Enroll in brain training. Unlike tutoring, which focuses on subject matter, one-on-one brain training strengthens the core cognitive skills to help you memorize, learn, process and recall any information faster, more effectively and more efficiently. Sometimes referred to as cognitive skills training, personal brain training uses customized brain exercises to target memory, processing speed, logic & reasoning, visual and auditory processing and attention. The results are measurable and can make the transition to college much easier.

    3.      Take a pre-college course. Many colleges offer these over the summer to give high school students a taste of campus life. Courses vary in topic, location, duration and cost, but almost all will be impressive on your teen’s college applications.

    4.      Consider dual-enrollment. Just as some high schools offer college-level courses, some colleges allow high school students to enroll in one or more classes—many of which even offer college credits if your grades are high enough. This can save your teen time (and you money!) when they’re ready to attend college full time.

    5.      Take required courses. Most colleges have admissions that include things like four years of English, four years of math, three to four years of a lab science, two to four years of a foreign language and at least two years of social sciences.

  • 7 LGBTQ Landmarks Besides the Stonewall Inn

7 LGBTQ Landmarks Besides the Stonewall Inn

    [ad_1]

On June 28, 1969, protests broke out at the Stonewall Inn in New York City following a police raid targeting gay patrons. Decades later, that incident is credited as the event that kicked off the modern gay liberation movement, and Stonewall is a now a national monument. The historic bar on Christopher Street is arguably the most famous LGBTQ rights landmark in the country, but it’s just one of many American sites that hold significance for the LGBTQ community. Here are a few worth visiting this June.

Castro Camera and Harvey Milk Residence in Sand Francisco

San Francisco’s Castro District is one of the most famous historically gay neighborhoods in the United States. Harvey Milk, a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and the first openly gay elected official in California, lived there from the early 1970s until his assassination in 1978. Today the house where he lived above his camera shop is a designated San Francisco landmark.

In 2015, St. Louis activist Leon Braxton got the idea to plant a garden as a way of honoring and calling attention to trans victims of violence. Around 60 people got together that October to transform a vacant lot in the city into a small park with 34 trees, a butterfly garden, and a community circle. The Transgender Memorial Garden was the second of its kind in the world, following one built in Manchester, England, and it was the first one established in the United States.

The Mattachine Steps in Silver Lake.

The Mattachine Steps in Silver Lake are a distinctive Los Angeles landmark, but many people who recognize it may not be aware of its ties to LGBTQ history. Harry Hay was living next to the stairway when he founded the Mattachine Society in 1950. The organization was one of the first gay rights organizations in the country, and it played an important role in the LGBTQ civil rights movement’s early history. The stairs were renamed the Mattachine Steps in his honor in 2012 and today a sign marks the historic site.

The Legacy Walk in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood is an outdoor museum that highlights contributions to history and culture made by LGBTQ figures. Twenty rainbow pylons are installed over a half-mile stretch, with each pylon featuring bronze memorial plaques of noteworthy lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender individuals or an important event in LGBTQ history. The plaques feature some famous names, as well as many that have been ignored by history books.

Julius' Bar in New York City.

Stonewall may be the most famous gay bar in New York City, but it isn’t the oldest. That distinction belongs to Julius’ Bar. Built in 1826 and functioning as a bar since 1864, it first gained a reputation as a watering hole that catered to gay clientele in the 1950s. In 1966, a group of activists held a “sip-in” at Julius’ to protest New York laws prohibiting eating and drinking establishments from serving gay people. The peaceful protest is considered a landmark moment in the LGBTQ civil rights movement.

Two years before the Stonewall Riots in New York City, protests in Los Angeles secured the Black Cat’s place in LGBTQ history. On New Year’s Eve 1966, plainclothes cops were waiting in the gay bar to catch men kissing at midnight, and when the clock struck 12, they beat and arrested 14 people for lewd conduct. Activists protested the violent incident a month later by picketing outside the Black Cat. The tavern was designated a historic-cultural monument by the city of Los Angeles in 2008.

Bayard Rustin was instrumental in several social movements throughout his life. He participated in the civil rights movement in the 1960s, and even worked with Martin Luther King, Jr. to organize the March on Washington. In the 1980s, he fought for gay rights and drew attention to the AIDS epidemic. The influential Black and gay activist lived in the same apartment in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood from 1962 to his death in 1987. Walter Naegle, Rustin’s former partner, still lives there, and he’s kept it almost exactly how it was in the 1980s. Today the apartment is registered as a national historic place.

Volunteers from The Way to Happiness Association of Toronto joined the Walk For Values 2019

    Press Release

    updated: Jun 5, 2019

The Way to Happiness volunteers from the Church of Scientology Toronto joined peace-loving people from throughout the city who gathered at Nathan Phillips Square and walked together to show their support for the Walk for Values campaign. The walk was organized by the Sathya Sai School of Canada.

Walk for Values began in Toronto in 2003 and is now celebrated in 30 cities across Canada and the United States, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Hong Kong, India and Malaysia. Its purpose is to raise awareness and respect for five human values: Truth, Right Conduct, Peace, Love and Nonviolence.

These values are shared by The Way to Happiness Association of Toronto, whose members live by the common-sense precepts of The Way to Happiness by author, humanitarian and Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, which begins with these words:

True joy and happiness are valuable.

If one does not survive, no joy and no happiness are obtainable.

Trying to survive in a chaotic, dishonest and generally immoral society is difficult.

Any individual or group seeks to obtain from life what pleasure and freedom from pain that they can.

Your own survival can be threatened by the bad actions of others around you.

I am sure you can think of instances of this actually happening. Such wrongs reduce one’s survival and impair one’s happiness.

You are important to other people. You are listened to. You can influence others.

The happiness or unhappiness of others you could name is important to you.

Without too much trouble, using this book, you can help them survive and lead happier lives.

While no one can guarantee that anyone else can be happy, their chances of survival and happiness can be improved. And with theirs, yours will be.

Walk organizers ask each participant to pledge to practice one or more of the five values — truth, right conduct, peace, love and nonviolence — in their daily lives to become better Canadians and global citizens.

The Church of Scientology and its members are proud to share the tools for happier living contained in The Way to Happiness. Some 117 million copies have been distributed in 186 nations.

  • Top Five Indie Games to Check Out This Weekend

Top Five Indie Games to Check Out This Weekend

    [ad_1]

MoPOP has been featuring both well-known and quirky indie games in Indie Game Revolution for quite some time now. However, that isn’t to say that they’ve featured every game deserving of an audience (Editor’s Note: yet!).

Here are five games to check out this weekend if you’re a fan of Indie Game Revolution.

    Cuphead

This game is not for the faint of heart. The 1930s-esque, hand-drawn art style and classic “run ‘n’ gun” gameplay has proven to be a huge incentive for potential players, but its difficulty has come under scrutiny.

Simply put, this game is hard. Crushingly hard.

Fighting the bosses in this game is like patting your head, rubbing your stomach, sprinting a mile, and throwing a football back and forth simultaneously. Cuphead forces the player to adapt on a dime and ruthlessly punishes those who don’t. Get ready to play boss battles over and over and likely rage quit too. However, if you can persist and get over the initial difficulty hump, you will find an incredibly rewarding game.

P.S. There’s a co-op mode too for those who can’t brave the game alone!

    Celeste

Celeste is another hard game, but it doesn’t feel unfair like Cuphead.

The challenges posed are very achievable, they just require some precise platforming. The gameplay starts off straightforward: you can either move or jump. Combine the two and you can wall jump. Celeste continues to build upon these two moves throughout the story, giving the player time to learn and enjoy each new mechanic before introducing a new one.

The best part of this game, surprisingly, is the story. Typically, 16-bit platformers don’t have much story at all, except maybe “beat this boss waiting for you at the end of the game.” Celeste, however, tells a poignant narrative about anxiety, depression, and confidence. It doesn’t shy away from the reality of self-doubt either, literally depicting the antagonist as the protagonist’s hatred-fueled doppelganger.

Come for the gameplay, stay for the story.

    Ape Out

Not much needs to be said here. You’re an ape trapped in a cell by your captors. What else do you need to do beside destroy everything in your path?

Ape Out plays a lot like Hotline Miami; they both share a top-down point of view and make hyper violence fun. The gorilla can’t wield guns, but he can wield the enforcers using them.

The game really distinguishes itself with its soundtrack. Each level is part of a “side” of a vinyl record, your movement and attacks are accompanied by the crashes of cymbals and booms of kick drums. In fact, the music is programmed to respond to the player’s movement and attacks, only crashing during action and simmering to a steady tap while you’re traversing the various environments.

    Headphones recommended for this gem.

    Stardew Valley

    Stardew Valley shouldn’t exist.

It’s the product of one man’s insane idea and the torture he put himself through to complete it. Eric Barone, a self-employed game developer (who resides in Seattle!) spent four years making Stardew Valley, with no one else credited to the project. The time paid off in a major way. Picture Animal Crossing with RPG elements. You level up when you fish, mine, farm, or engage in combat. You can develop relationships with the townsfolk and even start a family once you know them well enough (props to Barone for including same sex relationships in his game).

You can start a farm, grow plants, use your profits to make a barn, buy a cow and pail, milk the cow, and then turn that cow’s milk into cheese, which can be used to sell or make your own stat-boosting dishes!

Stardew Valley is an amalgamation of your favorite life simulators (The Sims, Harvest Moon, Minecraft, Animal Crossing) and sends the player down a deep, deep rabbit hole in search of new items to craft, recipes to cook, people to meet, and weapons to equip. Invest in this if you’re looking for something to consume your free time.

P.S. The recent addition of multiplayer makes this a must-have!

    Hollow Knight

    "Hollow Knight" indie video game

This is another game developed by a small team of three people and their hard work shows.

Hollow Knight is an expansive platformer, with caverns, mazes, and entire worlds to explore. Not to mention the game is animated and drawn by hand! It’s a wonder to behold.

You’ll encounter numerous enemy types, each with their own difficult moveset to learn and adapt to. The protagonist can be upgraded to counteract this too, with abilities such as a wall jump, dash, and charged attack to help gain the upper hand. Don’t get discouraged if you get stuck either; there are always multiple routes to take to any area, and some can even reveal secrets or boss battles.

The sequel arrives later this year, so pick this one up if you’re a fan of inventive Castlevania-type games.

“The Way to Happiness”—in support of the new era South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa envisions

    Press Release

    updated: Jun 5, 2019

At his inauguration on May 25, South Africa President Cyril Rampaphosa vowed to tackle corruption and rejuvenate the country’s struggling economy. To help him accomplish his goals and ensure a peaceful celebration, volunteers and police officers handed out more than 60,000 copies of The Way to Happiness to those flooding into Pretoria to be part of the historic occasion.

Elected in May, Mr. Ramaphosa initially took over the position in 2018 when former President Jacob Zuma resigned amid accusations of corruption. Ramaphosa’s campaign was based on a platform of honest government and social reform.

“It is time for us to make the future we yearn for,” he told the more than 30,000 gathered at Pretoria’s Loftus Versfeld Stadium. “It is through our actions now that we will determine our destiny.”

Well aware that his election was “a mandate to build a nation founded on social justice,” Ramaphosa stressed the importance of “dealing with each other with honor, dignity and respect.”

These are ideals echoed in the pages of The Way to Happiness, a common-sense guide to better living written by author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard, and forwarded by the distribution of the booklets to those attending the inauguration.

Volunteers began arriving the evening before the event and worked through the night and the following day, handing out copies of The Way to Happiness to ensure a peaceful inauguration ceremony.

Morality, honesty, taking charge of one’s own future—these are all strengthened by the application of the 21 precepts of this guide to better living. And they are vital components for building an ethical and productive society.

The Way to Happiness was written in 1981. Immensely popular since its first publication, some 115 million copies have been distributed in 115 languages in 186 nations. It holds the Guinness World Record as the single most-translated nonreligious book and fills the moral vacuum in an increasingly materialistic society.

The Church of Scientology and its members are proud to share the tools for happier living contained in The Way to Happiness.

When it comes to powering your team, diversify your portfolio

Meet Jimmy Burgess. As the Chief Growth Officer with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Beach Properties of Florida, he knows a thing or two about empowering agents. His core function is to find ways to add value to the team’s 170+ agents.

As part of the Berkshire Hathaway Home Services franchise, Jimmy’s team enjoys a slew of tools and technology to support their efforts and a network of people to learn from and bounce ideas off of. He sees success through helping his agents take advantage of these opportunities and providing more options to empower them.

Our job is to put our agents in the best position possible. As a company, we’re adding as much value as we can with the best technology that’s out there outside of the brand. Our job is really just to provide them with the tools to be able to do their jobs more effectively. So in reality, I don’t think it’s an “either/or”… I think it’s an “and.”

The benefits go beyond the software too. Expanding their “network of experts” through the connections of the BoomTown community have been pivotal to their growth. From Facebook groups to user conferences, it adds a new level of diversity and inspiration into their business and they can get real answers and solutions from people who have been there, been through it, and found success on the other side.

Winning strategy: Acting on top opportunities and nurturing leads for the long-term

Jimmy is very hands-on with the team and the system. On a daily basis he carves out time to help them hone their marketing campaigns and maximize the tools to discover opportunities. He knows their success boils down to 2 main concepts:

    • Acting quickly on hot opportunities: knowing exactly who to call and why to call
    • Creating strategies to nurture and engage leads who are further out in the process

    With BoomTown, it’s simple.

When you can instantly know who the hottest prospects are, it’s like the work has already been done for you. It literally gives us the ability to know who’s hot when they’re hot so that we can make sure we can be there to provide the service they want and deserve at that time of need.

As Jimmy explains, real estate is a “know, like, and trust game.” It’s a slow burn to build successful relationships and maintain clients. You have to constantly engage them and position yourself as the expert even when leads are potentially years out in the buying or selling prospect. And taking that off an agent’s plate is another place where BoomTown really shines for him.

With BoomTown where we’re continuously following up on people, what we’re seeing is that our ROI may be solid in the beginning but it gets really good as we go down through the system, and the system’s used more. And the system does the work for us and people begin to show back up that maybe haven’t been on the site in months.

In fact, this year one of his agents closed 12 deals through BoomTown. 9 out of 12 of those leads had come through the system over a year and a half earlier. It was the automated marketing and drip campaigns that kept them engaged and in-the-know, nurturing them to a point where they were ready to act.

Relentlessly prioritize investing in things that add value

Any successful business has to stay in a constant state of analyzing what is working and what is not. Don’t waste time and money on broken systems or technology that’s not a good fit for your team.

We’re just continuously saying, “Could we be better spending our money and our time somewhere else?” And what’s been great about BoomTown is on the back-end support we’re able to see which agents are following up correctly. We’re able to see who’s doing what. We’re able to actually calculate because we know which sales come from the BoomTown leads and it’s easy to the ROI.

As someone who has first-hand experience in lesser CRM systems, and tech solutions that leave you hanging, Jimmy knows you get what you pay for.

If you’re looking trying to empower your team and you’re wanting the best CRM, and you’re wanting the best lead generation tools, why not go to the best people? And when you do that, it always works out in the end.

LearningRx Reviews Impact of Brain Training on Reading Struggles

    [ad_1]

Girl experiences three-level increase in reading after program and makes the honor roll!!

LearningRx (www.LearningRx.com), the world’s largest personal brain training company, is celebrating the success of Callie, who saw significant changes in grades, academic enjoyment and confidence after completing a LearningRx program.

Callie came to LearningRx because she was struggling in school and she thought she was “stupid.” She had tried afterschool tutoring with her teacher and was in a special reading group in school, but she still had significant issues with reading and felt that her brain wasn’t working.

When she came to LearningRx, a cognitive skills assessment showed that Callie’s auditory processing skills were weak. (It’s the most-needed skill for reading!)

She enrolled in six months of LearningRx and saw drastic improvements. Her math got easier, her reading went up THREE levels and she made the honor roll at school!

“The more I played the games, the easier they got,” says Callie. “Math got a lot easier and reading got a lot easier.”

Callie’s mom says, “She was definitely more confident. Beforehand, when she was struggling, she would say things like ‘I’m stupid’ and ‘I just can’t get this.’ The more she came—probably after the third or fourth week—she didn’t say those negative things anymore. You hear people say it’s life-changing, but until you experience it … I mean, it really IS life changing.”

Australian Train Stations Are on the Right Track With INDECT Parking Guidance Systems

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: Jun 4, 2019

INDECT Australasia, in collaboration with Access Parking Control Pty Ltd, jointly announces the installation of their world-class parking guidance system at four newly constructed train stations in North Western Sydney, Australia.

A total of 1849 ultra-sonic, single-space sensors were installed at Cherrybrook Station, Bella Vista Station, Kellyville Station and Hills Showground Station as part of the NSW Government’s $7.3 billion rail project.

“What we’re seeing in Australia is part of a worldwide trend to make parking garages near train stations and public transport hubs more efficient and user-friendly,” said Dale Fowler, President of INDECT USA and CEO of INDECT Australasia. “If it’s quick and easy to find a space, it encourages more people to use public transport rather than relying on private vehicles.”

“Greater public transport use means fewer cars on the road, less traffic congestion in urban areas and a substantial reduction in greenhouse emissions,” said Fowler.

The parking guidance installation was carried out by locally based, parking guidance experts, Access Parking Control.

“It was a huge project with a short deadline. Our technicians worked hard to ensure it was completed in time for the big opening,” said Jim Morris, CEO of Access Parking Control. “We’re really pleased with how it looks, and the initial feedback from commuters has been very positive.”

The Sydney Metro Rail Project is Australia’s first fully automated train system. The driverless passenger trains are manufactured by French rail transportation experts Alstom and based on the international metro trains currently used in 25 cities worldwide, including Singapore, Barcelona and Amsterdam.

The new trains run through purpose-built tunnels allowing them to travel at speeds up to 100 km per hour. The entire system is constantly monitored by highly trained personnel in a state-of-the-art control center that receives real-time footage from the 230 security cameras placed within the tunnels.

To ensure commuter safety, the metro network functions as a completely closed system with no external connections to Sydney’s other rail networks. Each platform has glass screen doors to keep people and objects away from the edge and allow the trains to get in and out of the station much faster.

INDECT’s ultra-sonic sensors were placed directly above the individual parking spots, giving commuters a clear view of all available spaces. Different colors indicate the space’s status: green for available and red for occupied. The lights are clearly visible from a distance with additional LED wayfinding signs directing drivers to the nearest available space.

“When you’re rushing to catch a train, you don’t want to waste time searching for a parking spot, you just want to drive in, park and go. Especially now that the trains are fully automated, there’s no waving to the driver to get his attention. If you’re late, it’s gone,” said Morris

For most passengers, the new North West Metro line is only part of their morning commute. Any delay caused by searching for a parking spot could mean they miss their next connection. Parking guidance helps ease the stress of that early morning rush.

“It’s a really exciting time in Australia’s rail history, and we are proud to be part of such a visionary public transport project,” he said.

Ashby & Graff® Real Estate Releases ‘Holding Hands, Holding Dreams’ Video to Support Pride Month and LGBTQ Community

    Press Release

    updated: Jun 4, 2019

To support LGBTQ Pride Month, Ashby & Graff® Real Estate is raising awareness around diversity and inclusion with the release of its “Holding Hands, Holding Dreams” video that highlights the familiar feelings of thrill that come with first holding hands and first seeing the perfect home for sale. (Watch the video: https://bit.ly/2XkWa7a)

The video promotes Ashby & Graff’s belief that its strength comes from a diversity of people, thoughts and ideas. Emphasizing and connecting the joy of holding hands with the joy of finding that perfect home delivers a message that relates to all people.

However, despite the similar emotions experienced during hand holding, the effects of doing so publicly as an LGBTQ person are anything but similar to members of the majority. Hand holding by LGBTQ people can cause ridicule and in over 1/2 the states in the country, denial of housing or jobs because of failure to include LGBTQ people in anti-discrimination statutes. A recent study found same-sex couples are denied mortgages 73 percent more frequently than opposite-sex couples of similar financial worthiness. A separate study by Freddie Mac and the National Association of Gay & Lesbian Real Estate Professionals found 46 percent of LGBT renters fear discrimination in the home buying process.

John Graff, CEO of Ashby & Graff Real Estate, stated, “In 2019 – 50 years after the uprising at Stonewall – the LGBTQ community has taken incredible strides toward true equality but there is still progress to be made. We celebrate the gains but recommit to fighting for a better and more equal future on behalf of our employees, clients and their families.”

Graff continued, “At Ashby & Graff, we embrace and value our differences because it is diversity of thought that strengthens us. Diversity and inclusion aren’t just a corporate policy, they are the fibers that weave the durable fabric of our organization. We are proud to celebrate diversity and the contributions of the LGBTQ community during Pride Month and throughout the entire year.”

ScriptSave WellRx Marks Silver Anniversary – 25 Years of Prescription Savings, Totaling $10 Billion, and a Brand New Innovation to Help Patients Who View Food as Medicine

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: Jun 4, 2019

A new analysis from the prescription discount program ScriptSave WellRx has revealed how the company’s pioneering efforts to lower out-of-pocket costs for millions of patients paying cash for their prescriptions have resulted in $10 billion dollars of savings, as the company marks its Silver Anniversary with the release of a brand new module that can assist patients with their grocery choices.

Founded in 1994, ScriptSave has been a pioneer and innovator, leading the way in terms of creating tools and programs designed to help un- and under-insured patients better afford their prescription medications, including having worked in close collaboration with many of the nation’s most respected and visible pharmacy/grocery chains to create savings opportunities for their patients. Now, with the latest update to the ScriptSave WellRx mobile app, ScriptSave has announced a new wellness-focused tool that provides grocery guidance.

Using the new tool, consumers can check whether the foods they are eating are aligned with their goals for general wellness, pregnancy or other health conditions, including heart health and diabetes. Users of the app can even find similar food options that are better aligned with their needs. As with most other programs and offerings from ScriptSave, the ScriptSave WellRx app (and the new grocery guidance toolset) is available to users at no cost.

    Storied Company Never Stops Innovating

Other pioneering innovations that are also available (free) in the latest app release include: geo-targeted price-drop alerts for prescriptions medications, allowing users to see when the prices for their own medications come down at neighboring pharmacies in their zip code; medication refill and ‘take your pill NOW’ reminders, helping to ensure adherent to a prescribed regimen; and medication interaction alerts, to flag possible life-threatening drug or lifestyle interactions.

The newest release of the ScriptSave WellRx app, which can now help guide shoppers while they peruse the aisles at the grocery store or as they take stock of their pantry, is a clear expansion outside of ScriptSave’s traditional purview. Moving beyond just pharmacy and prescription medications, the grocery guidance module can guide users towards more health-conscious food selections. Beyond providing general wellness information, it’s designed to help users concerned with chronic conditions like diabetes or heart health and can even help identify appropriate food selections for pregnant women.

These latest innovations to the app’s feature-set come on the back of 2+ years of ongoing product development and, along the way, the team even managed to pick up a few awards for prototype versions of the app (including as a category winner at the 2017 National Association of Chain Drug Stores’ Product Showcase). As such, ScriptSave’s Vice President of Product and Technology, Shawn Ohri, noted that the timing of this release coinciding with ScriptSave’s Silver Anniversary could hardly seem more fitting or rewarding to the team.

    $10 Billion Saved

Meanwhile, an in-depth analysis of the traditional prescription savings programs that ScriptSave has been evolving throughout the course of its 25 years of innovation shows how the business has helped an estimated 85 million patients in the U.S. save a total of $10 billion on prescription medications. In 2018 alone, the prescription discount program saved consumers $450 million on medications.

ScriptSave WellRx’s free savings cards and prescription coupons—which can be found online or in the mobile app—can help save patients up to 80% on their medications, with average savings of around 60%. In terms of dollars and cents, the average cash saved by patients using ScriptSave WellRx in 2018 was $30.85 per prescription.

Ohri stated that with the ever-increasing prices of medication in the U.S., ScriptSave WellRx is helping patients pay for the medications they need to not only get over a cold or fever but, in some cases, survive.

“This is our 25th anniversary, and during those years, we’ve helped patients save $10 billion on prescriptions they need to get and stay healthy,” said Ohri. “Our prescription discount programs help consumers save money they can use on other critical expenses, like keeping the roof over their heads, putting food on the table for the family and buying school supplies for their kids. We continue to operate with a start-up mentality, bringing new and innovating solutions to help people manage their health and wellness.”

WellRx Mobile App Helps Consumers Find Lowest Prices at the Pharmacy

At its core, ScriptSave WellRx negotiates drug prices in bulk with pharmacies across the nation, giving it access to pricing information for most prescription drugs being sold at independent and chain pharmacies. It makes these pricing data available at no cost via the free ScriptSave WellRx mobile app and website.

In doing so, ScriptSave WellRx provides a fast, easy, free way for patients (and physicians) to get a second opinion on what an out-of-pocket cost might be. Patients can price-check all their family’s medications at most pharmacies in any zip code with just one click.

The price-check tool is available for free—no sign-up necessary—and features savings on medications at over 65,000 retail pharmacies across the U.S. In 2018, the program delivered average savings of 60%, with potential savings of 80% or more (relative to the cash price of those prescriptions being filled).

Patients can download the free ScriptSave WellRx mobile app (for iPhone and Android) or visit the website for more information.

New Film, Bit X Bit: In Bitcoin We Trust Gives Insider’s View Into the Futuristic World of Bitcoin and Its Secrets

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: Jun 4, 2019

A new Bitcoin documentary, “Bit x Bit: In Bitcoin We Trust,” takes an in-depth look at the beginnings and development of what has become a widespread global advance in digital commerce. The third film from director David Foox, which is currently available on iTunes and a list of other platforms (see www.bitxbitmovie.com for more listings), aims to educate everyone about a new value transfer system based on blockchain technology, an innovative technology revolutionizing the world.

“The journey led me and my filmmaking team to travel to 18 cities interviewing the futurists making Bitcoin a reality. What I discovered filled me with hope that our world will change, and I wanted to contribute to this epic transformation,” said David Foox.

This film tells the story of the emerging technology from its conception in the 2008 Satoshi Nakamoto whitepaper, “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System,” through Bitcoin’s successes and setbacks defined by the explorers who blazed the trail from early 2014 to the beginning of its integration in 2018. With so many willing participants looking to utilize and build related value around this technology, it has touched everything from startups to some of the largest financial institutions in the world and shows no signs of slowing down the possibilities for its adoption.

With predictions from the Winklevoss twins, the infamous “Bitcoin Billionaires” who reportedly held talks with Mark Zuckerberg about Facebook’s newly announced “GLOBALCOIN” cryptocurrency slated for 2020 — and through interviews highlighting the passion and intrigue expressed by the futurists and pioneers building these new systems, such as Andreas Antonopolous, Nolan Bushnell, Marshall Long, Pamela Morgan, Peter Todd, and many others — Bit x Bit: In Bitcoin We Trust stays true to its vision: “Futurists enlightening the minds of the many for the acceptance of a digital value exchange system focused on prosperity and transforming our world.”

These predictions and already some companies have already started to see the substantial value and increased investment paying off. A recent Bloomberg article showcased the historic investments and returns coming from Block.one, a cryptocurrency startup led by billionaire Peter Thiel. With these kinds of potential returns and a number of creative minds driving potential future investment in the space, the future is looking bright.

    ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:

David Foox began his journey into the making of “Bit x Bit: In Bitcoin We Trust” in January 2014 at the Sundance Film Festival, where he was celebrating an earlier successful film project – “Love Child.” In the production of “Love Child,” his eyes were opened to the effects of technology on the collective consciousness in ways that defied humanity. Therefore, when introduced to Bitcoin by friends who used the new digital technology to arrange airfare and hotel accommodations to attend the festival – David was fascinated. This simple encounter became the driving force behind David’s desire to create a film that brings the topic to a broad audience and perhaps even to those that will play a part in its future.

Recording Passengers: The ‘Dash Cam Dilemma’

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: Jun 2, 2019

LegalRideshare, the only law firm in the US to focus exclusively on rideshare, is often tapped with the question of the dash cam dilemma: “can a driver record me if I don’t know about it or agree to it?”

First, it’s important to consider: “is an Uber or Lyft a private situation?” LegalRideshare will often lean on the side of “no, it’s not.” It’s comparable to taking public transportation like a bus in a major city. If passengers wouldn’t go outside and scream something absurd, they shouldn’t say it in an Uber.

Understandably, passengers are still looking for their rights to be protected, even if legally a driver can record you in the car without your consent.

So how can drivers protect themselves and make passengers feel safe?

We always recommend drivers get a sticker for the back window of your car, acknowledging there’s a dash cam (LegalRideshare have these stickers and gives them away for free). In states like Illinois, which is two-party consent, this really covers any issue that may arise. It’s also important that drivers let riders know this is for their benefit as well, in case of an accident or assault.

When does it go too far?

A few months ago a driver was livestreaming his passengers on Twitch. This is not only a breach of trust, but a guaranteed deactivation. Recording passengers in case of an accident is one thing. Using them for a reality TV show is another.

Check out LegalRideshare’s interview with ABC news where they go into more details about recording passengers.

    Watch Queen Elizabeth II’s History-Making 1953 Coronation

    [ad_1]

On May 12, 1937, Princess Elizabeth—then just 11 years old—looked on as her father, King George VI, was crowned at Westminster Abbey. Little did she know that just 16 years later, she would be in the exact same place and at the center of the very same ceremony.

On June 2, 1953, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her official coronation—an event that made royal history in a number of ways, most notably because it was the first to be televised around the world (in the UK alone, more than 27 million people tuned in). Thanks to the power of the internet, you can watch it, too.

While the coronation marked Queen Elizabeth II’s formal investiture, the former princess had officially ascended to the throne more than a year earlier, upon the death of her father on February 6, 1952. Shortly before her passing on September 8, 2022, the longest-living and longest-ruling British monarch celebrated her platinum jubilee, which marked an unprecedented 70 years on the throne.

Elizabeth’s official coronation ceremony itself was delayed not only because of the time it takes to arrange such a detailed event, but also because holding the ceremony during a period of mourning for the family would have been deemed inappropriate. Though Elizabeth’s grandmother, Queen Mary of Teck, passed away less than three months before Elizabeth’s coronation, she stipulated in her will that the ceremony move forward as planned.

You can watch the coronation ceremony in several parts in the videos below.

Nirvana: The Legacy of the Green Shirt

    [ad_1]

Nirvana may have been one of the biggest bands in the world, but when it came to clothing, the band members were very down to earth. Whether it was Kurt Cobain’s ripped up cardigans or Krist Novoseliç’s basic shirts, their style was simple, comfortable, and most of all affordable.

One piece of clothing in particular got its fair share of the limelight. Krist Novoseliç wore this green, short sleeve button down on stage numerous times over the years. It first appeared in 1987 during the Pen Cap Chew days at show at the Community World Theater. He also wore the shirt two years later during the Bleach tour in 1989, but that wasn’t the last we’d see of it. Krist wore the shirt yet again at the Motorsports International Garage show on September 22, 1990 where he was photographed by the well-respected Seattle photographer Charles Peterson. That shirt really got a lot of stage time!

One might wonder what was so special about this shirt that made Krist want to keep wearing it. Was it a lucky shirt? Or was it just really comfortable? Or perhaps it was the only clean shirt at the time? Whatever the reason, it lives on eternally in photos and is currently on display at MoPOP in Nirvana: Taking Punk to the Masses.

    Press Release

    updated: May 31, 2019

Larson Electronics, a Texas-based company with over 40 years of experience spearheading the industrial lighting and equipment sectors, announced the release of a high-intensity infrared gas heater for use in indoor facilities. This metallic heater provides 70,000 BTUs of heat output operating on 115V single-phase 60Hz. This unit uses propane and contains a linear lens for focused heating applications.

The GAU-GIL-70K-115V high-intensity, infrared gas heater is compatible with 115V single-phase 60Hz and consumes propane fuel that generates the heat. The heat produced inside the heater is pushed out as infrared energy, and a linear infrared lens facilitates directional and accurate heating. This unit should not be used with speed-control equipment or VFDs.

Larson Electronics’ high-intensity infrared gas heater can be permanently mounted to surfaces and walls. This unit weighs just 39 lb. and, compared to convection heaters that warm the air, this infrared model is more efficient and capable of warming objects. Suitable applications include indoor use, construction sites, warehouses, commercial sites, industrial sites, schools and more.

Charlottesville, VA Mom Reviews Daughter’s Attention Improvements After LearningRx Brain Training

    [ad_1]

LearningRx (www.LearningRx.com), the world’s largest personal brain training company, is celebrating the success of Ayda, who saw significant changes in sustained, divided and selective attention after completing a LearningRx program.

Ayda came to LearningRx after her teacher was concerned that although she was smart, she was struggling to pay attention in class.

“I just knew that if she could focus, she could have real power,” says her mom. “I’ve known since she was little that she had attention issues. It’s cute when you’re 4, but it’s not cute when you’re 10. I had talked to my pediatrician and I was on the verge of putting her on some ADHD medication when the pediatrician suggested LearningRx.”

Ayda’s mom says that a cognitive skills assessment showed how smart Ayda was, but that she had some brain skills that were weaker, including attention, working memory and processing speed.

After completing her LearningRx personal brain training program, Ayda achieved drastic improvements—and the changes have made her a successful student.

“It’s been amazing,” says her mom. “I just had parent-teacher conferences a few weeks ago and I had the best report on Ayda I’ve had in years. All of her teachers said it’s amazing how much she’s focusing. I can tell that she’s practicing. She’s doing her homework. She’s being way less disruptive in class. She’s getting so much more out of school. I can see that as she is starting to enter her pre-teen years, she is full of confidence about her abilities. Having LearningRx help her build on her skills that were weak has really allowed her to access her skills that are strong.”
