BLACKSBURG, S.C. – A driver died in a single-vehicle wreck in Cherokee County Wednesday morning after losing control of their vehicle and striking a tree, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

It happened two miles south of Blacksburg, South Carolina at around 8:10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17th.

Authorities said that a 2000 Chevrolet SUV was traveling west on Batchelor Drive near Bear Creek Road. The vehicle traveled off the road to the right, lost control, and veered off the left side of the road before striking a tree.

The driver was the sole occupant and died Thursday as a result of the crash.

This crash is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
