North Carolina ranks among worst states for robocalling in 2024

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – If it feels like you’re getting more spam calls than usual lately, you’re not alone.
According to a new study from WhistleOut, more than two-thirds of Americans report getting more spam calls in 2024 compared to last year. The study analyzed data about robocalls in the U.S. and surveyed 1,000 adults about how they are handling the increase.
The study also released its findings on the worst states for robocalling in 2024, and North Carolina ranked No. 9 on the list.
The list is based on the annual number of robocalls as well as robocalls per person, with the Tar Heel State reporting 2,132,560,800 total calls with an average of 199 for each caller.
Louisiana topped the list of states, followed by Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Arkansas in the top five.
Tennessee, Texas and Mississippi came in at No. 6, No. 7 and No. 8 respectively. Florida rounded out the final spot in the top ten.
