In mid-August 2025, a rumor spread online that the wife of NFL star Travis Hunter,
Posts on X, Facebook, Reddit and Instagram spread the rumor, with many claiming that Lenee has sought a $40 million settlement. Hunter, a cornerback and wide receiver, signed a four-year $46.6 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars in June.
Meanwhile, Snopes readers rushed into our inbox to ask if claims about an impending separation between Hunter and Lenee, whose full name is Leanna De La Fuente, had any basis in fact.
Searches through divorce records, social media posts and legitimate news outlets found no evidence that Lenee filed for divorce or pursued a $40 million settlement amid an alleged split with the football player.
However, as it is not possible to definitively prove that Hunter and Lenee are not separating, we have not rated this story. Snopes reached out to Hunter via the Jaguars to ask whether these rumors have any basis in fact and we await a response.
No divorce records or legit reports
No divorce filings seemed to exist for Lenee or Hunter as of this writing.
The county clerk in McMinn County, Tennessee, where Lenee and Hunter reportedly married on May 24, 2025, did not immediately return an inquiry as to whether the NFL player or his wife filed divorce records in the county.
However, Hunter’s current residence is reportedly in Jacksonville, Florida, a city within Duval County — and according to an email from the Public Records Department at Duval County Clerk of Courts, neither Hunter nor Lenee’s names appear in divorce records there between the time the two got married and Aug. 18, 2025, the day of this writing.
Google searches for “Travis Hunter divorce,” “Travis Hunter Leanna Lenee divorce” and “Travis Hunter Leanna Lenee $40 million settlement” returned no relevant results from legitimate news outlets, indicating that the rumor did not come from authentic reports.
Couple’s social media accounts did not indicate split
On Aug. 3, 2025, Hunter posted a TikTok video in which he and Lenee adopted a kitten, which would be a strange decision if the two knew they would be filing for divorce just days after. On Aug. 9, 2025, Lenee also posted a TikTok video of Hunter posing alongside his character in Madden NFL, a football video game.
Social media users have claimed a video Lenee posted on July 19 of herself crying indicated trouble in her relationship with Hunter. However, the caption of the video and Lenee’s responses to comments on the post indicated she was reacting to the intense online backlash she faced after being perceived as an unsupportive partner to Hunter.
For example, Lenee wrote, “This…LOL” in response to a comment that said: “Not everyone assuming it had to do with her relationship… pretending like [she] wasn’t getting annihilated on social media a few months ago…”
