NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — On this special edition of Up Close, New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani joins Bill Ritter for an exclusive interview following his historic win in the November general election.

The 34-year-old state assemblyman will become the youngest New York mayor in more than a century. He will also be the first Muslim mayor of New York City.

It will be a lot of firsts for the mayor-elect, who enters Gracie Mansion with an incredibly ambitious agenda focused on affordability for New Yorkers.

During their interview, the two discuss Mamdani’s transition, his relationships with Mayor Eric Adams and Gov. Kathy Hochul as well as US international relations.

Up Close airs Sunday mornings at 11:00 a.m. on Channel 7, WABC-TV in New York City and wherever you stream ABC 7 New York.
