This month we celebrate the publication of Psychedelic Medicine: A Manual for Patients, Clinicians, Users, and the Curious (Editorial Kairós, 2025), the new work by José Carlos Bouso, ICEERS’ Scientific Director. This book is unique in the Spanish-speaking world, combining rigorous scientific research with language that is accessible to a wide audience.
The manual comprehensively addresses the therapeutic uses of substances such as psilocybin, MDMA, ibogaine, LSD, and ayahuasca, while exploring the social, cultural, and ethical implications of their use. With a multidisciplinary approach, Bouso offers tools for both healthcare professionals and individuals interested in better understanding the role of these substances in the present and future of medicine.
The publication of this book is a fundamental contribution to advancing toward an informed psychedelic culture, in which science, personal experience, and ancestral wisdom can engage in dialogue on equal terms.
