On Sunday, the N.C. High School Athletic Association released the official playoff brackets for the 2025 football and boys soccer state championships.
Schools had until 3:45 to submit inquires into the preliminary brackets.
It is the first time that the association has released playoff brackets for eight classifications in soccer.
The NCHSAA office staff and a coach representative from the N.C. Coaches Association wcame together 1:00 in the afternoon to begin the seeding process.
Here are details on the new seeding process:
In this new frontier, we won’t know where the East-West line will be placed to separate the two regions if there is an odd number of teams. The coach representative on hand will conduct a random drawing to decide which side the middle team will go on.

- Sunday, Nov. 2 — Official brackets released by NCHSAA
- Tuesday, Nov. 4 — First Round at higher seed
- Thursday, Nov. 6 — Second Round at higher seed
- Monday, Nov. 10 — Third Round at higher seed
- Thursday, Nov. 13 — Fourth Round at higher seed
- Tuesday, Nov. 18 — Regional Finals at higher seed
- Nov. 20-22 — State championships at neutral sites
Football Playoff Dates
- Sunday, Nov. 2 — Official brackets released by NCHSAA
- Friday, Nov. 7 — First Round at higher seed
- Friday, Nov. 14 — Second Round at higher seed
- Friday, Nov. 21 — Third Round at higher seed
- Friday, Nov. 28 — Fourth Round at higher seed
- Friday, Dec. 5 — Regional Finals at higher seed
- Dec. 11-13 — State championships at neutral sites
