NC State falls 3-2 in OT to Washington in men’s soccer title game

CARY, N.C. (WTVD) — N.C. State men’s soccer team rallied from a 2-0 deficit but fell 3-2 on a controversial golden goal in overtime to Washington in the men’s soccer national championship game Monday night.

The Wolfpack (16-4-3) tied the game with just over 3 minutes left in regulation before a packed crowd at First Horizon Stadium in Cary.

After beating Georgetown on the road by a 3-2 score, the Wolfpack advanced to the NCAA College Cup for the first time since 1990.

The 2025 season is just the second-ever appearance for them in the Final Four match.

The Red Terrors beat Saint Louis 2-1 in front of more than 10,000 fans on Friday night. The Huskes (16-2-6) advanced to the championship game by beating Furman 3-1.

Monday’s match was the first-ever men’s soccer meeting between N.C. State and Washington.
