PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Passes to the Portland Book Festival may be sold out, but there’s plenty of other weekend fun to be had.
Here’s a rundown of some of the top events happening through Sunday.
Candlelight: A Tribute to Adele
When: Friday, Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m.
Where: The Old Church Concert Hall, 1422 SW 11th Ave, Portland, OR 97201
Adele fans will hear the Vancouver String Quartet perform the singer’s most popular tracks, from “Someone Like You” to “Water Under the Bridge,” as candlelight glows at the Old Church Concert Hall.
Chrysanthemum Festival: Nights of the Golden Flower
When: Friday, Nov. 7 through Saturday, Nov. 9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Lan Su Chinese Garden, 239 NW Everett St, Portland, OR 97209
Throughout the first weekend of Lan Su Chinese Garden’s Chrysanthemum Festival, Nights of the Golden Flower will serve as a floral design showcase featuring “larger-than-life glowing lanterns.”
Frybread Fest
When: Saturday, Nov. 8 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: Director Park, 815 SW Park Ave, Portland, OR 97205
In celebration of National Native American Heritage Month, the Portland Indigenous Marketplace and Downtown Portland Clean & Safe are hosting this event with handmade goods and performances from the local Native community. The first 200 attendees of Frybread Fest will receive complimentary frybread.
Gobble Up
When: Saturday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: The Redd on Salmon, 831 SE Salmon St, Portland, OR 97214
Gobble Up will bring artisans, chefs, authors and more to The Redd on Salmon for a Pacific Northwest-focused food show. Hosted by Urban Craft Uprising, the event is also an opportunity for guests to do some holiday shopping.
Portland Zine Symposium
When: Saturday, Nov. 8 and Sunday, Nov. 9 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: Smith Memorial Student Union, 1825 SW Broadway, Portland, OR 97201
The free, all-ages Portland Zine Symposium showcases work from independent publications from around the region. In its 25th year, the conference is also offering free screenprinting so participants can go home with a PZS shirt.
Nate Bargartze – Big Dumb Eyes World Tour
When: Saturday, Nov. 8 and Sunday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.
Where: Moda Center, 1 N Center Ct St, Portland, OR 97227
Nate Bargartze will headline Portland’s biggest venue for two consecutive shows on his Big Dumb Eyes World Tour. The “clean comedian” was the highest-grossing comic of last year.
Jay Durden
When: Sunday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.
Where: Helium Comedy Club, 1510 SE 9th Ave, Portland, OR 97214
Known for his appearances on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” comic Jay Durden is performing at Portland’s Helium Comedy Club. He also served as a writer on the Emmy-nominated “The Problem With Jon Stewart.”
