Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
WASHINGTON — Police are investigating a shooting in D.C. that left multiple people wounded Wednesday evening.
According to a spokesperson with the Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened in the 1100 block of 21st Street, Northeast shortly before 6:15 p.m.
Very little is known about the shooting at this time. While officers say multiple people were wounded, there is no word on the exact number of victims or the extent of their injuries.
No suspect information has been released and it is unclear what happened in the moments leading up to the shooting. Police have put road closures in place while detectives investigate the scene:
- 1100 block of 21st Street, NE, between Maryland Avenue and M Street
- 2100 – 2200 blocks of Maryland Avenue, NE, between 21st and M Streets
