‘Multiple fatalities’ after house fire in the Poconos, officials say

Fire crews are still investigating after, officials said, there were “multiple fatalities” in a house fire in Franklin Township, Carbon County, overnight.

According to the Carbon County Coroner’s Office, the deadly incident happened just after midnight on Wednesday, at a property located along Willow Street in Franklin Township.

Crews were still working at the scene at about 7 a.m. on Wednesday, officials said.

The coroner’s office said that there were “multiple fatalities,” in the fire, but did not immediately provide further information on the identities of the victims or an exact number of victims there were in this incident.

Fire officials have also not provided further information on what may have caused the deadly incident.

However, officials said an investigation is ongoing and more information would be provided “as appropriate.”
