(KRON) — Heat advisories that had previously been downgraded were revised back up to excessive heat warnings, the National Weather Service announced Tuesday. The NWS is warning of temperatures in the mid 90s to 110s with limited overnight cooling for Monterey and San Benito counties. Bay Area regions impacted by the excessive heat warning include:
- North Bay interior mountains
- East Bay interior valleys and hills
- Santa Clara Valley — including San Jose
- Eastern Santa Clara hills
“Hot conditions could cause life-threatening impacts or major impacts to commerce or travel,” the NWS said. “There is a high to very high risk for much of the population due to long duration heat with little to no overnight relief.”

Heat advisories remain in effect for more coastal-adjoining parts of the Bay Area from 11 a.m. Wednesday to 8 p.m. Friday. Hot conditions in areas under advisory could cause impacts to “life, commerce, or travel,” the NWS said.
“There is a moderate to high risk to those who are heat sensitive, especially those without effective cooling or adequate hydration,” the NWS advised. Additionally, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District has issued a Spare the Air Alert for Wednesday.
