Nine Eighteen Nine Studio Gallery, 700 N Tryon Street, Charlotte, North Carolina, is launching a cultural series called World Tea Ceremonies.

The first chapter in the series, Korea in the Queen City, is a month-long celebration of Korean art and culture organized by Hands On Well, a Charlotte-based nonprofit founded by Korean American artist Lee Ko.

Korea in the Queen City takes place from November 8 to December 7, 2025, at Nine Eighteen Nine Studio Gallery. It features photography, live music, workshops, food and more. Most of the events are free to the public or have a small fee.

We are listing the free and lower priced events during the month, below, But please check out all the events here. That’s where you’ll find the tea ceremonies.

A Photographic Journey Through Korean Heritage

Ki Yong Kim is a smartphone photographer devoted to capturing and sharing the timeless beauty of Korean heritage. Formerly engaged in an entirely different profession, Kim found his true calling in photography during the pandemic in 2021. With a smartphone in hand and a deep love for Korea’s traditional culture, he transitioned from hobbyist to professional artist, documenting the quiet elegance of royal palaces, seasonal landscapes, and the intricate patterns of heritage architecture.

On November 9, explore the unique history and characteristics of Korean chopsticks and how they differ from their Japanese and Chines counterparks.

On November 16, discover the beautify and architectural philosophy behind Korea’s traditional houses, known as Hanok.


Korean Cooking Class: Roll Your Own KimBab
Sundays, November 9 and 16, 2025

$15 (registration required — space is limited)

Participants will make two rolls of KimBab. Everything is included in your ticket.
