Montgomery County police identify Babacar Mbengue as the victim and Fallou Galass Fall as the gunman in a fatal shooting in Silver Spring.
SILVER SPRING, Md. — Montgomery County police have released the identities of the victim and the gunman in a deadly shooting that occurred in downtown Silver Spring Friday afternoon.
According to police, the victim, 22-year-old Babacar Mbengue of Silver Spring, and the gunman, 20-year-old Fallou Galass Fall of Laurel, were related. Police have not indicated how the pair were related.
Police began investigating after they responded to a reported shooting in the area of Richmond Avenue and Fenton Street around 2:07 p.m.
When they arrived, they found Mbengue lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Mbengue was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators were able to immediately able to identify Fall as the suspect.
They believe Mbengue and Fall were inside a red Tesla when they began arguing. The argument escalated and the pair ended up in the street fighting when Fall pulled out a gun and shot Mbengue.
They say he then drove off.
Police were able to locate and arrest Fall in Laurel around 6 p.m. as he drove away from his apartment.
Police charged him with first-degree murder.
He is currently jailed awaiting a bond hearing.
