The rivalry just got a little more personal.
Michigan has landed a major in-state transfer, as former Michigan State linebacker Aisea Moa announced his commitment to the Wolverines. The 6-foot-2, 235-pound defender will have one year of eligibility remaining and becomes the latest Spartan to cross enemy lines.

Moa spent the 2025 season at Michigan State after three years at BYU, where he transitioned from defensive line to linebacker and carved out a rotational role. This past fall in East Lansing, he appeared in all 12 games, totaling 12 tackles, one tackle for loss, and two pass breakups while providing depth and special teams value.
Originally a four-star recruit out of Weber High School in Utah, Moa was ranked among the top defensive linemen in the state in his class before moving to linebacker in college. He brings size, physicality, and experience in both the Big Ten and Big 12 to Ann Arbor.
Adding another layer to the story: Moa is the older brother of Selesi Moa, who committed to Michigan just a day earlier. Now, the two brothers will suit up together in maize and blue.
For Michigan, it’s a depth addition with edge, and for Michigan State, it’s a reminder that in today’s transfer portal era, even the fiercest rivalries don’t stop roster movement anymore.
