Megan Thee Stallion Will Take a Break From Music, Have a “Healing Girl” Summer

Forget “Hot Girl Summer”—if we’re following Megan Thee Stallion’s lead, this year is more about Self-Care Girl Summer.
The rapper recently said that she is taking a break from making new music to spend her energy on…not spending so much energy.
“Fans can expect new music when I’m in a better place,” she told InStyle in an interview published Tuesday. “Right now, I’m focused on healing.”
“The music and entertainment industry can be a grind, so it’s important to take time off and avoid burning out,” she continued. “Life is all about balance.”
Megan spent much of 2022 embroiled in a legal battle with fellow rapper Tory Lanez, who in December was found guilty of shooting her in the feet in a July 2020 altercation. Lanez is set to be sentenced on June 13; he faces up to 22 years and eight months in prison.
In April, Megan penned an Elle op-ed about the trauma of the incident and the ensuing legal process, writing, “I don’t want to call myself a victim. As I reflect on the past three years, I view myself as a survivor, because I have truly survived the unimaginable. Not only did I survive being shot by someone I trusted and considered a close friend, but I overcame the public humiliation of having my name and reputation dragged through the mud by that individual for the entire world to see.”
Yes, we’d say that the 28-year-old multiplatinum rapper doesn’t owe us anything, let alone new music.
