Maverick Golf & Ranch Club, a luxury residential community west of Fort Worth by Discovery Land Co., has opened its nine-hole, par 3 golf course .

The “Luxury Gone West” community with a planned 500 lots on 1,100 acres off Aledo Road, northwest of Lake Benbrook, will have a total of three courses designed by Tom Fazio, a renowned course architect.

Lots start at $1 million and go up to around $4 million.

The development with rolling hills and views of Fort Worth’s skyline is Discovery Land Company’s second in the area, after Vaquero Golf Club in Westlake. It is a joint venture with PMB Capital Investments.

In Texas Hill Country, Discovery has also built the Driftwood Golf and Ranch Club and the Austin Surf Club.

The Pinkerton 9 course at Maverick opened Jan. 5. An 18-hole championship course is expected to open in fall 2026, and a 12-hole course after that.

“The par-3 is the perfect opening act for Maverick. It embodies our core philosophy of creating world-class golf experiences that are fun and accessible for the entire family,” said Michael Meldman, founder and chairman of Discovery Land Company, in a statement. “It’s the ultimate place for a parent and child to spend an hour, or for friends to settle a friendly wager before dinner. This community is built on the spirit of Fort Worth, and its design ensures golf is a relaxed, joyful part of the Discovery lifestyle.”

Fazio said the course offers “creativity” and gives importance to the fun parts of the game.

“It’s a shot-maker’s paradise without the time commitment of a full round,” Fazio said. “At Maverick, we used the natural changes in landscaping to create highly playable holes that will challenge the accomplished golfer while still welcoming the beginner. It truly sets the stage for the championship course to come.”

Discovery Land Company says it has plans for practice courses designed for all skill levels with a range house, a dedicated golf teaching facility, and a short-game area.

Members will also have access to a spa, hiking, biking, fishing, clubhouse, fitness center, kids adventure center, family water park, outdoor sports fields and other amenities.
