NORWOOD, Mass. (WWLP) – A father and son, both from Norwood, won a combined $800,000 in the midday Mass Cash drawing last month.
In a news release by the Massachusetts State Lottery, Eugene Girard bought eight midday Mass Cash tickets for a drawing held on Friday, October 24. He chose the same five numbers on all the tickets: 3 – 6 – 10 – 13 – 23.
Matching all five numbers on a single ticket wins the top prize of $100,000, before taxes. Eugene told the Lottery that the numbers, which he plays regularly, are sentimental to him.
Before claiming his winnings, Eugene gave a ticket to his son, Matthew, to claim. Combined, a total of $800,000, before taxes, was claimed at the Lottery office. Eugene plans to buy a car, make home improvements, and put toward savings. Matthew also plans to buy a car and invest.

The tickets were purchased at Pam’s Market in Norwood, which will receive $8,000 for its sale of these tickets. Eugune previously won $1 million prize on a Billion Dollar Blockbuster instant ticket in September 2008.
Mass Cash drawings are held twice a day at 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. The midday drawing was introduced in August.
