ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Maryland will start issuing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits to people starting Nov. 18.
As the shutdown neared its end, President Donald Trump threatened to restore only some of the SNAP benefits. Locally, states scrambled to generate funding for SNAP recipients once the deadline for the halt in funding approached. Both Maryland and Virginia declared states of emergency as they tried to grapple with the pause in funding.
