Marblehead fireworks canceled after barge fire

[ad_1]

MARBLEHEAD — The town’s Fourth of July fireworks have been canceled after the barge holding the fireworks caught fire in the middle of the night.

The Marblehead Fireworks Committee announced that the state fire marshal’s office is investigating and will not allow the vendor to do any fireworks until it is determined how the barge caught on fire.

The fireworks were scheduled to start at 9 p.m. on Thursday from a barge at the mouth of Marblehead Harbor.

The group said it will post updates as it learns more information.
