In the heart of Baroda, Manas, who is 30 years old and a student at IISC, pursuing his PhD, with a zest for life, navigated the delicate threads of family, culture, and personal growth. Hailing from a typical Indian family, he shared a strong bond with his younger brother.

Manas, a fanatic of literature, movies, and sports, found solace and inspiration in the simple joys of reading, watching films, and engaging in athletic pursuits.

Amidst the rich cultural backdrop of Gujarat, Manas’s emotional journey took a significant turn when he discovered YourDOST, an oasis of support for those navigating the complex landscapes of their minds.

He ventured into the realm of counseling when a strained relationship with his academic guide cast shadows over his emotional landscape, creating a void that reverberated deeply within him.

Manas shared, the weight of the unspoken emotions evident in his voice.

Beyond academic challenges, Manas’s personal life also held complexities. Recounting a past mistake that strained a relationship, he sought reconciliation. However, the lingering echoes of the incident disrupted the harmony of the renewed connection.

“She would often go back to the same point and talk about it, disrupting the vibe of the relationship.”

Introduced to YourDOST by his college, Manas embarked on a journey to confront and navigate the tumultuous seas of his emotions. His counselor, a guiding light named Ms. Sanika, posed a simple yet profound question: “What gives you happiness?” Encouraged to immerse himself in activities that brought joy, Manas discovered a transformative power within himself.

“My counselor asked me a question like what gives me happiness and to continue doing that for a few days. I tried doing it for a few days, and it did make me feel better.”

Manas recalled the subtle shift in his tone reflecting the positive impact of this simple exercise.

The waves of positive change began to ripple through Manas’s life. Post-therapy, he found himself acknowledging and understanding his emotions, a skill he had long grappled with. Techniques learned during counseling became tools to reshape his perspectives, fostering a newfound respect for people and their individualities.

“I used to isolate myself, eat, and sleep in my room by locking myself in. I did not want to face people or even go to the lab for my thesis work.”

Manas confided, unveiling the depth of his emotional struggles.

Expressing his gratitude, Manas reflected on the profound impact of Ms. Sanika’s support.

“I appreciate that she made me feel heard, and I felt good about it. Her small suggestions are something that I practice till date, and it’s been solution-oriented.”

As Manas rated himself a 3/5 in terms of feeling better post-therapy, his story serves as a testament to the transformative power of emotional wellness support.

Navigating through the labyrinth of emotions, Manas discovered that seeking help is not a sign of weakness but a courageous step towards a more purposeful and confident life.

YourDOST, with its empathetic approach, continues to be a beacon of hope for those, like Manas, on their journey to emotional well-being.
