IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. (WJZY) — A Madison man is facing felony charges after investigators said he sexually assaulted several minors across three North Carolina counties.

According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, Shane Dalton York, 33, was arrested on October 17 following a multi-county investigation.

York is charged in Iredell County with one count of felony human trafficking, two counts of felony statutory rape, and two counts of felony indecent liberties with a child.

The investigation began earlier this month when deputies received a report of multiple sexual assaults involving juveniles. Detectives determined the assaults took place between January and October 2025 in northern Iredell County.

Investigators said York used his involvement in the rodeo community to meet and groom his victims. As the investigation continued, detectives discovered that York had allegedly victimized additional juveniles in Davidson and Stokes counties.

Detectives from all three counties worked together to locate and arrest York at his home in Stokes County. During questioning, officials said York confessed to the crimes.

He’s now being held at the Davidson County Detention Center under a $3 million secured bond, covering charges from all three counties.

This case remains active and additional charges are expected.
