Police are still searching for the person responsible.

WASHINGTON — A man is in the hospital after he was stabbed by a stranger in a D.C. nightclub on Tuesday just before midnight. D.C. Police are still searching for the person responsible for the stabbing.

According to an incident report provided to WUSA9 by the Metropolitan Police Department, the man told police he was at Gaia Nightclub at 1025 Vermont Avenue NW celebrating a friend’s birthday. The man told police he was seated at a table when someone he did not know came up and said, “I know y’all got money, but can you move over?” At that point, the victim said someone pulled a knife and he decided to leave. As he was gathering his stuff to leave the club, he was stabbed in the back.

The man could not give police a description of the person who stabbed him. Following the stabbing, the man was taken to Georgetown University Hospital and dropped off outside in a wheelchair.

The victim’s current condition is not known.

Police responded to the club, but everyone involved had already left. Officers interviewed staff at the club who corroborated what happened with lesser detail.

DC Police are still searching for a suspect in this case. Anyone who may have more information to help investigators are urged to call 202-727-9099, or text the department’s tip line at 50411.
