A Milwaukee man’s windows have been boarded up after sitting broken and exposed to the elements for two days. Frankie Hoffman contacted WISN 12 News after he said his apartment building neglected to board up or fix his windows. Hoffman said another tenant, who was suffering a mental health crisis, smashed multiple windows in the single-level apartment building, including Hoffman’s.Hoffman is in a wheelchair, has multiple sclerosis and suffers from PTSD. “It sounded like someone was trying to kill me,” Hoffman said when asked what it sounded like when someone was smashing his windows. Hoffman said his apartment manager didn’t do anything to temporarily fix his windows after they were smashed, leaving him exposed to the freezing temperatures and snow over the weekend into Monday. “Today they were like, ‘You’re being impatient, you need patience.’ I’m like, I’ve gone without windows for two days, I think I’ve been patient enough,” Hoffman said. By Monday afternoon, when WISN 12 News arrived, the windows were still smashed and shattered glass was everywhere.When our news crew spoke to the apartment manager, they refused to answer any questions. WISN 12 News contacted the Milwaukee Police Department, the Department of Neighborhood Services, Department of Public Works and the alderman for Hoffman’s district. Within several hours, Hoffman said a private contractor stopped by his home and boarded up the worst of the damage.
