Man drives through security barrier at Coast Guard station in Philly, police say

A man is in custody after driving through a security barrier at the Coast Guard station in Center City and disabling several surveillance cameras and communication devices, police said.

The incident occurred at around 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, when the man drove a white sedan through a security barrier at the Coast Guard Station at 1 Washington Avenue in Center City, police said.

The man was then able to disable several surveillance cameras and communication devices before being apprehended, police said.

During the incident, the man struck a Philly police officer in the face with a surveillance camera, causing the officer minor injuries, police said.

The suspect was also taken to the hospital after being apprehended and is believed to have possibly been under the influence of narcotics at the time of the incident, police said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Philadelphia Police Department.
