Man dies after Wake County shooting that closed Knightdale Blvd.

KNIGHTDALE, N.C. (WTVD) — Knightdale Boulevard was closed Saturday morning as the Wake County Sheriff’s Office investigated a shooting that left one man dead.

Deputies responded to the scene near Old Milburnie Road around 8:50 a.m., where they found the victim with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The victim, Corey Hansen, 39, later died from his injuries.

The sheriff’s office said Saturday afternoon that deputies have identified the shooting suspect. The sheriff’s office said there was no search for the shooter, and no arrest has been made.

Evidence markers and what appeared to be clothing were scattered along the median as deputies investigated.

There was no ongoing threat to the community, WCSO added.

The investigation is ongoing, and Knightdale Boulevard reopened around 4:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office said.
