The girl is said not to have been present at school, with his parents and grandmother unaware of her whereabouts.
It’s alleged she got into a taxi with the man in the morning and he took her to Scotland.

Under Slovakian law, a minor travelling with someone who is not their parent would require a document signed by their parents, guardian, or legal representative(s) authorising their travel under the given circumstances.
When the alarm was raised by her parents, the girl was tracked down by Interpol to the man’s home in Edinburgh.
The girl was returned to Slovakia by a social worker via the country’s Department of Social and Legal Protection of Children and Social Guardianship.
The accused told Slovakian media that the girl had gone with him willingly and denied any sexual intention toward her.
On Thursday, August 21, the man attempted to return to Slovakia and was detained at the airport before being taken to a police station in Prievidza.
He appeared in court the following day accused of kidnapping and has been held in preventative detention while the investigation continues, having been deemed a flight risk.
According to local media reports a number of other complaints have been made against the same man, who denies the charges.
Police are said to have taken witness statements from several people, including other children, as well as obtaining video and photographic evidence.
Marián Sipavý, spokesperson for the regional prosecutor’s office in Trenčín said: “The prosecutor of the District Prosecutor’s Office of Prievidza filed a motion with the District Court of Prievidza to take the accused into custody for the reasons of so-called ‘flight risk detention’ or preventive detention.
“The accused is being prosecuted for the crime of kidnapping.
“On 22.08.2025, the pre-trial judge of the District Court Prievidza took the accused into custody.”
Interpol and Slovakia’s Department of Social and Legal Protection of Children and Social Guardianship have been contacted for comment.
